Naren to play lead role in remake of Kamal’s Kakki Sattai?

Actor Naren doesn’t mind playing a negative role in his mentor and director Mysskin’s upcoming film Mugamoodi. The film stars Jiiva and model Pooja Hegde as the lead pair and has Naren essaying a negative role for the first time in Tamil films. Naren is now said to be mulling over the possibility of remaking Kamal’s hit film of the mid-eighties, Kakki Sattai, and playing the role essayed by Kamal Haasan.

Naren debuted as hero in Tamil films with Mysskin’s Chittiram Pesudhadi and also played the hero in the director’s another film Anjathay which had actor Prasanna (who had only been playing hero’s roles) playing the villain. It may be noted that Naren was a popular actor in Malayalam before debuting in Tamil films. Naren agreed to play the villain in Mugamoodi to express his sense of gratitude to Mysskin who introduced him in Tamil films.

“I’m all set to play Kamal Sir’s role in the remake of Kakki Sattai. I’m determined not to make any mistake in the portrayal of the cop’s role essayed to perfection by Kamal Sir. A lot of homework, however, needs to be done,” says Naren who has reportedly started doing the preparatory work of the remake film. Kakki Sattai starred Kamal Haasan, Madhavi and Ambika in lead roles and is also remembered for the sarcastic villainy of Sathyaraj.

It remains to be seen as to who would be playing the roles essayed by Madhavi and Ambika and the villain’s role of Sathyaraj. It is expected that Naren, who is presently shooting for Mugamoodi, would let the cat out of the bag in the days to come.
