Madambi

Madambi is designed as a typical Mohanlal mass masala, by director B.Unnikrishnan. It is a time-pass family entertainer that delivers the goods in these hard days. The film sticks to the easy comfort of the formula and image that one associates with a superstar film. Why do we pay Rs 40 and then push and get squeezed to get into the theatre to watch a superstar film first day, first show? Most of us go not to test our intellect or imagination, but just to take a look at Mr. Mohanlal. His on screen charisma and star power attracts us to the badly maintained theatres in Kerala on the opening day, just to watch him. And if you come out smiling, then it is only because of the good time provided by the superstar.

Mizhikal Sakshi

In an era when cinema is all about slapsticks, violence and vulgarity, ‘Mizhikal Sakshi’ by Ashok R Nath is a good reminder that cinema can be much more. This feel-good movie while raising several pertinent issues lets you walk out the theatre, with something to think about.

One Way Ticket

What can Pritviraj do without a script? Debutant director Bipin Prabhakar’s and writer Babu Janardanan’s One way Ticket is virtually a ticket to nowhere. The mix of comedy, sentiments, star frenzy and football does not gel.

Dasavatharam

“Dasavatharam” is a show of grandeur. Kamal makes it beyond the ordinary. His sheer audacity, magnificence and histrionics are simply spellbinding. And creativity is given new dimensions.

Magic Lamp

Jayaram seems to be in a deep turmoil where he just can’t hope for a magical movie to give a fresh life to his career. His latest, to add to the list of non starters will be ‘Magic Lamp’, the movie which was waiting in the cans for the last seven years. And as expected, this identical individuals’ tale definitely give that depressing, silly air of the nineties. This logic-defying, light-hearted comedy (intended) movie seems to be caught in a time warp, which never ever will manage to entertain the viewers of the new millennium.
