Bhagyadevatha

He is the man with the Midas touch. Director Sathyan Anthikkad still proves that he has the touch with his latest Malayalam film Bhagyadevatha. And this is not because he has a fresh or a unique story to tell but because of the way he narrates an age old tale and still holds the interest of the audience, which is an amazing quality.

Debutant director Rohan Krishna’s back to school Pattalam with tag line ‘relieve your school memories’, is a clean movie that follows the classic Paneer Pushpangal  format.

Sarath Kumar and action seems inseparable. The actor, who has made a name for himself being part of action-packed ventures, has come out with a movie that is racy from the first frame. Ad man –turned – director Dinesh Kumar has tried to showcase Sarath Kumar as a ‘desi’ James Bond, who romances and fights hard (jumps from sky-scrapers, dives from helicopters, bashes group of baddies and shoots distant targets at ease).

If you happen to be a real cat ‘n mouse enthusiast, tune into Pogo and watch an umpteenth rerun of Tom and Jerry. It has tons more intelligence, wisdom and insight than this idiotic wreckage of a movie that should have never even been conceptualized.

If there’s one statutory rule needs to be imposed with out fail this moment, it’s an unconditional ban on the cop flicks that are so obsessed with glitz that they fail to thrill. B. Unnikrishnan’s IG proclaims a been-there-and-done-that inertness in each frame that makes it a stylish and swanky but an extremely silly piece.
