Mamma Mia

On stage, Mamma Mia! was a spectacular success. The silver screen adaptation is way above the original in terms of grandeur but may be a tad less in the success arena.

James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman come together in Timur Bekmambetov’s soon-to-release Wanted. After Timur’s Russian box office hits such as Night Watch and Day Watch, Wanted turns out more to be a captivating journey of sight and sound than a typical action film.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon

There have already been quite a few summer action blockbuster movies this year, and the “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” tries to sneak in and make an impact. It is not going to succeed. With “The Dark Knight” already getting incredible critical and box office success, any other movie following that one is doomed, at the best, to be mediocre.

Prom Night

Movie audiences will forgive movies with even the most worn out plot lines, if they can be presented in a different and interesting way. The horror genre is even more restricted and if it strays from the formula too much, it just might fail.

The Dark Knight

Batman may be the dark knight, but it is the late Heath Ledger as Joker who truly haunts this movie. Director Christopher Nolan returns with star Christian Bale as Batman and by having the late Aussie actor Ledger act in ‘The Dark Knight’ they have allowed the movie to be hijacked by what is clearly one of the finest performances of the year.
